Fleas, Ticks, Worms
Fleas, ticks and worming are all parasites that feed and live off other animals.
Regular prevention is important for protecting your pets from serious health issues that can arise from undetected parasites.
Fleas are small parasites that live on the skin of animals and cause itching, skin inflammation, hair loss and can lead to more serious issues. Without treatment, fleas will infest our homes and environment.
Paralysis ticks are found throughout the east coast of Australia - particularly in grassy areas- and inject a paralysing toxin into animals they feed off. This tick is highly toxic and potentially life threatening to pets.
Intestinal worms are parasites that live in the gastrointestinal system of pets. They can cause diarrhoea and other severe diseases. Heartworm is a parasitic worm spread by mosquitoes that gets lodged in the chambers of the heart. They can grow up to 30cm long and eventually cause heart failure and death. Please note that “all-wormer” products to do not prevent against heartworm.
Regular parasite treatment will maintain your pet’s health and stop them from being infected with nasty parasites. We sell a range of treatments at Vaucluse Vets that can be combined to prevent against the full range of parasites.
